On
the western side of the Opera Theater around 9 meters
(30 feet) from the theater, is a wonderful romantic
little courtyard called the Palais-Royal. Within
the courtyard are huge old trees.
In the center of the courtyard is a fountain of a bronze
woman shielding her head from the water which flows
down above her.
On the
other side of the courtyard is a flowerbed in the
form of a heart. In the center of the heart stands
a sculpture of two young lovers embracing.
In the northwestern corner of this courtyard is a
staircase down to Ekaterininskaya street 13 (Екатерининская).
